Anna Louise Campbell

Anna was received into the hands of our Lord God in the early morning hours on June 14th, 2026, at the age of 82.

In the fall of 1943, the community of Oxford, Indiana, was blessed with its newest member. Anna Louise Whitesell was born November 6th, 1943, in Lafayette, Indiana. Growing up on a small diverse farm, she and her sister Sue were the unstoppable duo. The farm was occupied and owned by their grandparents, Earl and Myrtle Whitesell, Robert and Doris (Buttle) Whitesell, of course "the unstoppable duo", and their brother Timothy. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1961 and found work in a doctor's office in Lafayette.

Anna enjoyed gardening, cooking, and needle work. She crocheted beautiful afghans, sweaters, and more, and had a special talent making drapes for various sizes of windows. She was a perfectionist and everything she made was beautiful.

During those school years, all the kids kept calling her "carrot top", which she really didn't like. But she had the most beautiful red hair.

She enjoyed music and sang with Sue for many functions in the community, with their dad accompanying them on guitar. They sang in a quartet called "The Farmeretts." Living on a fruit farm and hybrid seed corn, Anna was kept busy picking fruit and detasseling corn. Busy hands are happy hands.

Anna's older sister, Sue, was in the Army and stationed in the Pentagon. Sue helped Anna find a place to live and work in Washington, D.C., so off she went on her grand adventure. Anna was invited to a party the very first night in Washington, D.C. She and her roommate were picked up by Frankie L. Campbell along with a complete car full to go to the party. Anna wasn't much for drinking and smoking cigarettes, and wanted to go ahead and head back to her new shared apartment. With a bus schedule in hand, a big new city outside, she nervously started getting ready to leave, but before she could open the door, Frankie asked her where did she think she was going. She stated: Home. He said, "I brought you; I will take you home!" Anna was so relieved. Frankie began calling on Anna every day and they were married December 7th, 1962. That began her grand adventure!

Anna was preceded by her loving husband of fifty years, Frankie, her father and mother Robert J. and Doris C. Whitesell, and daughter-in-law Londa Elaine Campbell.

Anna Louise Campbell was the daughter of Robert James Whitesell and Doris Caroline (Buttle) Whitesell; the wife of Frankie Leon Campbell; the mother of Robert Leroy Campbell (wife Londa Elaine (dec.)) and Gary Thomas Campbell; the grandmother to Sarah Lee (Copeland) Padilla (husband Al Jesus), Jack Wolford Copeland, Crystal Ann Buchard, Benjamin Eric Carl Buchard (wife Jeri), and Thomas Leon Campbell; the great grandmother to Jonathan Eric Bynum (wife Diana), Jacob Eli Bynum, Rebekah Marie Bynum (husband Brandon Mathew), Jesse Elizabeth Bynum, Anaya Rial Bynum, Jaxon George Copeland, Bradley Ethan Batten (wife Julee JuJu), Billy Joe Scott Batten (wife Mikel-Lydia), August Lynn Burchard, and Miles Antonio Ruiz; the great-great grandmother to Italia Marie Bynum, Charles Owen Bynum, Oliver James Bynum, Theodore Rey Bynum, Jeremy Edward Bynum, Benson Grey Bynum, Joseph Emmanuel Demetrio Palma, Disney Amaya Ember Smith, Sofia Joanne Raylee Palma, and Moises Leo Lane (Batten) Palma-Langston.
